“Aahhh”, this what I said after watching Common’s Blue Sky video. From the monotony of catchy phrased songs pumped out of syndicated radio, this song is completely and utterly refreshing to say the least. Common has always depicted struggle in his music. From the struggles he faces while furthering his relationship with his true love, hip hop, to the youths rise to success while in the mist of poverty, drugs and distractions. At the end of your reality check, Common will strength you with his powerful word selection. ( Now you see why I exhaled). There is some much passion in Common and it exudes through him in the scene where he is laying on the bed where he is supposed to be relaxed but he is anything but calm LOL. Ok, now this song is off Common’s The Dreamer/ The Believer LP dropping December 20th. Yes! We have a while to wait. Let’s hope Common decides to continue to tease us with great songs like this until then.

Now, we all know we love to save on great fashion items, but you know you always find that “one of kind” slightly expensive piece that you feel you MUST have. Your mind is in an extensive financial legal battle between Needs vs Wants. Now you are really forced to think should you splurge or save. The item at hand is Prada’s Minimal Boutique collection cat eye sunglasses.These retro era inspired glasses would add as some major competition in your accessories collection.

Save vs. Splurge: Mascara Edition
In tough economic times, it is always good practice to cut out any unnecessary spending. When it comes to cosmetics, it’s tough for me to distinguish between a luxury and a necessity. The way I see it, if the purchase will necessitate my happiness, it’s a necessity.
I’m one that will usually splurge when it comes to beauty products. What can I say? You only get one face and you should pamper it. But even I realize that some products may not be worth the added expense.
When purchasing mascara, I want something that will define and add volume to my lashes. I also want one that doesn’t leave me looking like a raccoon by mid-morning. So should you splurge when it comes to mascara?
No. With so many quality and tried-and-the true mascaras on the market, splurging on this item may not be worth it. Depending on how often you intend to use it you could possible dish out a few extra dollars. Bearing in mind, mascara should be replaced at most every 5-6 months. With that, I would suggest bypassing the Clinique counter and heading for the nearest drug store.

Pump it or Dump it? “Take Care” by Drake
This past Tuesday, November 15th, Drake released his sophomore effort entitled “Take Care.” This was a highly anticipated album and I would say that it delivers on most of the tracks.
The album is not typical and is quite refreshing, as every other line doesn’t mention a bad yellow b*tch that looks like a tropical number two pencil, or something to that nature, that another member of the YMCMB raps about on every track.
Lyrically, Drake kills it. Punch lines are witty and clever. He has a way of telling stories through his lyrics that just seems right.
A few tracks that stood out from the others were: ‘Take Care’ ft. Rihanna…(btw props to Rihanna and her vocal coach), ‘Make Me Proud’ ft. Nicki Minaj, and ‘The Real Her’ ft. Lil Wayne and a very eloquently delivered verse from Andre 3000. Of course the radio releases knock: ‘Headlines’ and ‘Marvin’s Room’. There are also some clear samples of prior Cash Money hits, most noticeably on the track entitled ‘Practice.’
Overall, on a scale of 1-10 I would say the album is a strong 8. “Take Care” is a solid follow-up to “Thank Me Later,” but doesn’t have as many up-tempo tracks as that first release. Most tracks just seem too muted and reflective. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Drake is an up and coming lyricist who conveys his music with such honesty that you just can’t help but to love him.
